April Wright Writer and Director
April was recognized by Humanitas “New Voices” in 2023 and Women in Film / Blacklist in 2024 for her pilot “Fear of Flying.” Her latest documentary “Back to the Drive-in” released theatrically to much critical acclaim during summer 2022 and is now available on Amazon Prime. She and the film were featured in Variety and it won the 2023 Film Threat Award - Best Film about Movies or Filmmaking.
April loved directing “Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story,” executive produced by Michelle Rodriguez, which was awarded Best Documentary of 2020 by the national Women Film Critics Circle and was nominated for the 2021 global Cinema for Peace Award for Female Empowerment.
April worked as a narrative programmer for the Sundance Film Festival and AFI Fest for over 15 years, which was a wonderful film education. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation, she has an MBA from Northwestern, and is an alumni of the Sundance Institute.
